Meet Finca El Sendero from Cajibio, Cauca, Colombia—a hidden gem that we are excited to share with our coffee-loving community.

Discovering Finca El Sendero

Located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level, Finca El Sendero is situated in the picturesque region of Cajibio. The farm specializes in the Gesha variety, renowned for its exceptional and delicate flavors. This particular lot has been processed using traditional washed methods and dried in the shade for 15 days, ensuring a refined and unique flavor profile.

Our contacts at Finca El Paraíso, a long-time contributor to Hydrangea’s coffee menu, recommended El Sendero to us. At Hydrangea, we pride ourselves on not only sourcing some of the world’s finest coffees but also on nurturing relationships with both renowned and emerging coffee producers. While many coffee enthusiasts are familiar with celebrated farms that have achieved widespread acclaim, we are equally committed to supporting and showcasing lesser-known producers who deliver remarkable quality.

A Taste of Terroir

After a thorough sample roasting and cupping process, we determined that this coffee fits perfectly within our “Terroir” range. This selection is designed to highlight the distinctive taste characteristics that arise from the unique farming practices of the region.

The flavor profile of El Sendero is truly enchanting. As a classic washed Gesha, it offers a clean and bright cup with prominent notes of jasmine, bergamot, and sweet green tea. This coffee stands out for its clarity and complexity, inviting you to experience a different facet of the Gesha variety.

Earlier this year, our friends at Finca El Sendero planted hydrangeas on their farm—a fitting symbol of our growing partnership. We are thrilled to announce that we are working on an exclusive Hydrangea lot of coffee in collaboration with El Sendero. This partnership represents a significant milestone for us, as it brings to life a dream of direct farm collaboration that we never imagined possible when we started as a hobby just a few years ago.
