Red magnolia florals lead into the sweet-tart character of yellow nectarine and the deeper fruit expression of Concord grape. This natural Gesha from Elida Estate’s Vuelta lot brings together expressive floral aromatics and layered fruit sweetness.

Elida Estate, Lot Vuelta

The Lamastus family has produced coffee at Elida Estate since 1918, across four generations. Located in Alto Quiel, Boquete, in Panama’s Chiriquí highlands, the estate combines volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and surrounding native cloud forest. This selection comes from Lot Vuelta, grown at 1,780–1,820 meters above sea level.

This coffee was part of the Lamastus family’s preselection of candidate lots for Best of Panama 2026 and the family’s private auction. It is a sister lot to Elida Geisha Natural Vuelta, which placed third in the Natural Gesha category at Best of Panama 2026.

Variety

Gesha, also spelled Geisha, originated in Ethiopia and has become closely associated with specialty coffee in Panama. The variety is known for its potential to develop delicate floral and stone-fruit aromas when grown well at high elevations—characteristics reflected here in the magnolia and nectarine notes.

Processing

The cherries were harvested on the afternoon of April 28, 2026. After flotation sorting in water, they were transferred to a dark room and dried whole for 30 days, away from direct sunlight. Once drying was complete, the coffee began its resting period.
