Gardenia aromatics meet bergamot-like citrus and the delicate fruit sweetness of lychee. This washed Gesha from Elida Estate’s Torre lot brings together the floral and fruit expression associated with high-elevation Panamanian Gesha.

Elida Estate, Lot Torre

Lot Torre comes from Elida Estate in the highlands of Boquete, Chiriqui, where the Lamastus family has grown coffee since 1918. The estate’s volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and surrounding cloud forest shape its growing environment. This lot was grown at 1,780–1,820 meters above sea level.

This coffee was part of the Lamastus family’s preselection of candidate lots for Best of Panama 2026 and the family’s private auction. It is a sister lot to Elida Geisha Washed Torre, which placed first in the Washed Gesha category at Best of Panama 2026.

Variety

Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. Panamanian Gesha is recognized for its high cup-quality potential at altitude and often shows delicate floral and stone-fruit aromatics. In this lot, our tasting notes center on gardenia, bergamot, and lychee.

Processing

The cherries were harvested on the morning of March 23, 2026, and depulped at noon that same day. The coffee then fermented for approximately 24 hours with its mucilage—the sticky fruit layer surrounding the seed—still attached, before entering the dark room for drying.

This lot combines washed processing with Dark Room Drying, or DRD. At Elida, DRD takes place in an enclosed, dark space with controlled temperature and humidity to manage moisture loss during drying.
