Farm and Producer

Chavez Estate is a family coffee project in Comunidad Nueva Florida, Hatumpampa, Inkawasi. Ricardo and Virginia Chavez oversee the farm with their children, dividing responsibility for cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest work, and quality control.

The family manages several connected plots and has cultivated the selection locally known as Geisha Inka or SL9 for more than a decade. The estate’s 2025 Cup of Excellence entry was submitted under Jhenrri Chavez’s name; that estate history does not by itself establish an award for this offered Lot #3.

Variety

The farm identifies this selection as SL9, also known locally as Geisha Inka. It has been propagated from established plants in Inkawasi. The name identifies the farm’s planting material; it does not establish that it is the same selection as Panamanian Gesha.

Processing

In washed processing, the fruit pulp and remaining mucilage are removed before the coffee is dried. This approach often emphasizes a defined structure and separation of flavors, while fermentation and drying choices still influence the result.
